WOULDN'T YOU MISS ME? - THE BEST OF SYD BARRETT (2001)

“Wouldn't You Miss Me?” - The best of Syd Barrett” è una compilation, pubblicata nel 2001, che comprende alcuni dei brani più celebri di "The madcap laughs" e "Barrett", i due album realizzati nel 1970 da Syd Barrett, il mitico fondatore dei Pink Floyd (all’epoca ormai fuori dal gruppo - e da sé stesso - essendosi letteralmente cimito il cervello a causa della sua predilezione per LSD e porcherie varie). La compilation include anche pezzi di “Opel” una raccolta pubblicata nel 1988.

“Wouldn’t you miss me?” annovera anche due perle da collezionisti: "Two of a kind " (tratto dalla partecipazione di Barrett ad uno spettacolo radiofonico del 1970), e, soprattutto, "Bob Dylan blues" (un inedito registrato alcuni giorni dopo “Two of a kind” e assiduamente ricercato dai fan del “pazzo diamante”).

Questo album è indubbiamente il miglior biglietto da visita per coloro che vogliono addentrarsi nella musica di Syd Barrett, il genio musicale fondatore dei Pink Floyd “bruciatosi” terribilmente troppo presto a causa delle droghe. E proprio questa sua "abitudine" intensa spiega il carattere "bizzarro" dei brani presenti nell'album.

“Wouldn't You Miss Me?” – The best of Syd Barrett” is a single disc compilation album released in 2001. It comprises highlights from the two 1970 albums "The madcap laughs" and "Barrett" and the 1988 out-takes collection "Opel" - the only three records released by Pink Floyd's founder, who had blown his brain as early as 1970 due to his heavy addiction to LSD and other drugs.

As a bonus to dedicated Barrett followers, the album includes "Two of a kind", from a radio show to which Barrett participated in February 1970, and the previously unreleased song "Bob Dylan blues", an original recorded a few days after "Two of a kind", that before this release was a very rare and sought-after song.

Because of its convenient nature, “Wouldn't you miss me?” - The best of Syd Barrett” makes a useful entry point for Barrett newcomers, who will be able to appreciate the drug-spoiled genius of Pink Floyd’s founding member.
