"Songs from the big chair" è il secondo album pubblicato dai Tears for Fears (Roland Orzabal, Curt Smith), nonché campione di vendite nell'ambito della discografia del gruppo.
Pubblicato nel 1985, è tuttora uno dei miei album preferiti degli anni Ottanta. Anche perché, all'epoca, la spinta creativa dei gruppi progressive britannici "capostipite" (es. Genesis, Pink Floyd, Yes, King Crimson) si era ormai esaurita da tempo.
Pur non rientrando nel genere progressivo vero e proprio, "Songs from the big chair" è comunque un ottimo disco di pop britannico, che si ascolta volentieri anche a distanza di anni.
Oltre ai celeberrimi single "Shout" e "Everybody wants to rule the world", desidero sottolineare l'atmosfera incantevolmente soft di "I believe", a mio parere il pezzo migliore dell'album.
Voto personale (scarso / insufficiente / sufficiente / buono / distinto / ottimo / eccellente): Ottimo.

"Songs from the big chair" was the second album released by Tears for Fears (Roland Orzabal, Curt Smith), as well as their highest selling album.
Released in 1985, it is still one of the favourite albums of the Eighties. In fact, the creative boost of the British "historical" initiators in progressive rock (e.g. Genesis, Pink Floyd, Yes, King Crimson) had run dry by that time.
Though it cannot be labelled as a "progressive" album, "Songs from the big chair" is a very good British pop issue, which everybody will listen to with pleasure even after such a long time.
In addition to world-famous "Shout" and "Everybody wants to rule the world", I wish to point out the delicate, soft atmosphere of "I believe" (the best track of the album, in my opinion).
My personal mark (very poor / poor / pass / good / fairly good / very good / excellent): Very good.
