Pubblicato nel 1980, “Peter Gabriel 3” è il terzo album omonimo dell’artista britannico. Fu oggetto di enormi consensi da parte della critica, e contiene due dei brani più celebri di Gabriel: “Games without frontiers” e “Biko”.
L’album viene spesso indicato con il titolo “Melt” (“Fusione”), traendo spunto dalla copertina del celebre designer Storm Thogerson, il quale fece ricorso a tecniche di manipolazione dell’immagine utilizzando una semplice macchina Polaroid SX-70. “Peter Gabriel 3” vide la partecipazione, per la prima volta dalla dipartita di Gabriel dai Genesis, di un ex componente della celebre ex-band: Phil Collins, batterista e cantante - ovvero, successore di Gabriel - dei Genesis.
