A PROPOSITO DI MINIGONNE ... (TALKING ABOUT MINISKIRTS ...)

Come ho fatto notare nel post precedente, torna il bel tempo. E con esso gli indumenti leggeri, minigonne comprese. A proposito di ciò desidero sottoporre alla vostra attenzione un provvedimento alquanto originale, adottato da Luigi Bobbio, sindaco di Castellamare di Stabia (NA), alla fine dell’estate 2010.

Il sindaco campano ha infatti deliberato un decreto che vieta alle donne di indossare minigonne e altri indumenti ‘audaci’, comprese calzature con tacchi a spillo e abiti con scollature profonde. Il tutto, secondo le parole del sindaco, per “ripristinare il decoro e migliorare la civile coesistenza”. La multa prevista per i contravventori va da 35 a 700 euro. A fargli da spalla è il parroco locale Don Paolo Cecere, convinto del fatto che il provvedimento “contribuirà a diminuire i casi di molestie sessuali”.

La cosa mi sa tanto di amministrazione comunale bigotta leghista. Peccato che, invece, provenga dalla Campania, regione che vanta probabilmente le più belle femmine ‘italiche’. Boh, vacci a capire ...

As I pointed out in the previous post, the nice weather is back again, and so are girls and women wearing light dresses (including miniskirts). With regard to this, I’d like to draw your attention to a local law decree adopted by Mr. Luigi Bobbio, the Mayor of Castellamare di Stabia (a seaside town not far from Naples, Italy) at the end of summer 2010.

The town’s mayor considered a ban on women wearing miniskirts and other revealing outfits, including high-heeled shoes and dresses with plunging necklines. According to the mayor’s words, “the ban will help restore the urban decorum and will also facilitate better civil co-existence”. Fines of € 35,00 to € 700,00 will be levied on offenders. The mayor’s initiative was backed by Don Paolo Cecere, the local parish priest, who said the ban “is also a way of combating the rise in sexual harassment”.

Well, all of this sounds like a ban from a Northern Italy’s bigot municipal administration led by the ‘Lega Nord’ party. I can’t really think of such a silly ban being enforced in Campania, a region where probably the prettiest Italian women were born. Bah ...

CLANDESTINO

Sono anch’io un clandestino: non mi riconosco più nel mio paese, vorrei andarmene. C’è qualcuno in Europa che mi ospita?
Lo so, in molti paesi europei noi italiani veniamo ancora etichettati come ‘mafiosi’. A nostra volta, noi ci rivaliamo sugli immigrati stranieri, etichettandoli come ‘delinquenti’ senza discriminazioni. Chi ha ragione? E chi torto???

I’m a clandestine citizen too: I no longer identify with the country where I live, I would like to go away. Is there anyone in Europe who is willing to host me?
I know we Italians are still labelled as ‘mafiosi’ in many European countries. We in turn retaliate against foreign immigrants, whom we often label as ‘criminals’, without making distinctions.
Who is on the right side? Who is on the wrong side?

GONE TO EARTH (DAVID SYLVIAN) - 1986

Di David Sylvian, ex figura carismatica dei Japan, ho postato finora due album: il lavoro d’esordio (capolavoro) “Brilliant Trees del 1984 (ved. mio post datato 3 aprile 2007) ed il terzo album “Secrets of the beehive” del 1987 (ved. mio post datato 27 novembre 2008). A metà sta l’album “Gone to Earth”, ovvero il post odierno.
Un doppio album decisamente ambizioso, con un primo disco cantato ed un secondo basato essenzialmente sulla ambient music. Mentre il disco cantato ripropone grosso modo le tematiche del primo e terzo album solista di Sylvian (menzionati più in alto), il secondo disco rappresenta, a mio parere, un esempio incantevole di musica d’atmosfera (o d’ambiente, per tradurre alla lettera il termina inglese), dalle reminiscenze vagamente “cannaiole” stile fine anni Sessanta-inizio anni Settanta, da ascoltare sprofondati in una comoda poltrona.
“Gone to Earth” è un album che ho riscoperto di recente, dopo averlo ascoltato distrattamente qualche volta a fine anni Ottanta. Nella mia situazione particolare di separato/neo-single, è un album importante che mi ha aiutato a riflettere su molte cose … Ma queste sono considerazioni mie personali.
Bando ai sentimentalismi. “Gone to Earth” è un must assoluto per gli appassionati di progressive, o meglio, dovrei dire, di musica “impegnata”. Non perdete altro tempo e ascoltatelo con calma.

Voto personale (insufficiente / sufficiente / buono / distinto / ottimo / eccellente): Ottimo.

David Sylvian (Japan’s former leading figure) has appeared on this blog through two albums: the masterpiece debut work “Brilliant Trees (1984) (see my post dated April 3rd, 2007) and his third album “Secrets of the beehive” (1987) (see my post dated Novembre 27th, 2008). In the middle stands “Gone to Earth”, i.e. the album I’m posting today.
“Gone to Earth”, originally released as a double LP, features two discs: Disc 1 is mainly characterized by typical, refined songs, fully Sylvian-style, whereas Disc 2 is essentially based on ambient music. While Disc 1 can roughly be assimilated to the music patterns of Sylvian’s first and third albums (i.e. the ones mentioned above), Disc 2 provides, in my opinion, an astonishing example of atmsphere music (i.e. ambient music) reminiscent of the dope-imbued late 1960s-early 1970s music scene - a disc to be listened to while relaxing on a comfortable armchair.
I have re-discovered “Gone to Earth” recently, after I had casually listened to it in the late 1980s. In my present condition as a separated/newly-found single man, it has helped me reflect on various things … But these are personal meditations of mine.
No more emotionalism! “Gone to Earth” is an absolute must for all the prog fans - or, at least, the “cultured” music fans, I should say. So, don’t waste any more time and listen to it carefully.
