LIVE C.S.O.A.

Voto personale (insufficiente / sufficiente / buono / distinto / ottimo / eccellente): Distinto/Ottimo.

A real bootleg album,“Live C.S.O.A. La Torre” was recorded live by Le Orme at the “Centro Sociale Occupato Autogestito La Torre”, Rome (Italy) on May 2nd, 2007. Of course, the sound recording quality leaves something to be desired - the audience’s buzzing and murmuring can be easily heard in the background of some tracks. At least, this album gives the opportunity of listening to Le Orme performing live - Le Orme being my favourite Italian rock band, a band on which I blame only one thing: the lack of official live albums in a sufficient number. In fact, the only two such records released during the forty-year long career of the band are “Le Orme in concerto” (see my post on December 16th, 2007) and “Live in Pennsylvania” (see my post on July 16th, 2008). There is also one unofficial, rare album: “Orme live” (which I posted on January 24th, 2008).
The most interesting feature of “Live C.S.O.A.” is the set list: most of the tracks are taken from the works from Le Orme’s golden years (a special mention goes to the instrumental and/or improvised sections contained in “India”, “Evasione totale” and the ending medley, the latter also including “Blue rondo a la turk”, one of the early “big numbers” of Le Orme and Emerson, Lake & Palmer as well). The only sore point is the absence of Tony Pagliuca, the former keyboardist who left the band in 1992.
My personal mark (poor / pass / good / fairly good / very good / excellent): Fairly/Very good.
