L’album de Le Orme che posto oggi è probabilmente uno dei meno conosciuti del celebre gruppo rock italiano. In effetti, ascoltandolo siamo distanti anni luce dai capolavori de Le Orme che ho postato in precedenza (vedi “Felona e Sorona” il 15 marzo 2007, “Collage” il 2 aprile 2007, “Uomo di pezza” l’8 maggio 2007, “Contrappunti” il 14 settembre 2007).
“Orme” rappresenta l’apice del percorso pop commerciale che il trio veneziano aveva intrapreso fin dalla metà degli anni Ottanta. In ogni caso, trattandosi di musicisti esperti e preparati, l’album non è niente male: semplicemente, lo si ascolta con piacere qualche volta, poi lo si mette via, rispolverandolo di tanto in tanto. Cosa ben diversa da capolavori quali “Felona e Sorona”, “Collage” o “Contrappunti” che, a distanza di oltre trent’anni e dopo averli ascoltati decine e decine di volta, continuano a farmi venire i brividi.

“Orme”, the eponymous album by Le Orme which I’m posting today, is probably one of the least known of the famous Italian prog rock band. As a matter of fact, when you listen to it, you will immediately realize that it sounds light-years away from Le Orme’s masterpieces I posted in this blog of mine (cf. “Felona e Sorona”, March 15th 2007; “Collage”, April 2nd 2007; “Uomo di pezza”, May 8th 2007; “Contrappunti”, September 14th 2007).
“Orme” is representative of the commercial pop path Le Orme had started to follow as early as the mid 1980s. In any case, Le Orme are skilled, cunning musicians and, for this very reason, their albums rarely leave the fans disappointed - this is a pleasant album indeed, the only difference being that you are likely to listen to it a few times, then you put it away and dust if off once in a while. This is quite another thing from such progressive masterpieces as “Felona e Sorona”, “Collage” or “Contrappunti”: they still sound marvellous even more than thirty years after they were released, despite having listened to them tens and tens of times.
