“Uomo di pezza” è il terzo album de Le Orme, pubblicato nel 1972. Come il precedente lavoro “Collage” (postato il 2 aprile), presenta lunghe sezioni strumentali alle quali si abbinano i consueti testi impeccabili scritti dal tastierista Tony Pagliuca.
Tralasciando le ormai scontate influenze di Emerson, Lake & Palmer - seppur rielaborate in un contesto italiano - “Uomo di pezza” è un disco che non stanca mai. Il titolo suggerisce l’interpretazione dei brani: si nota, infatti, come unico filo conduttore l’immagine dell’uomo imbambolato per una qualsiasi ragione davanti all’immagine della donna. Nonostante manchi una trama che unisca le vicende descritte nei vari pezzi, si tratta in fondo di un album concept.
Pur essendo difficile fare una scelta fra i brani che preferisco, opterei per “La porta chiusa”, “Figure di cartone” e “Aspettando l’alba”.
Voto personale (scarso / insufficiente / sufficiente / buono / distinto / ottimo / eccellente): Ottimo.
“Uomo di pezza”, released in 1972, is Le Orme’s third album. As with the previous record “Collage” (which I posted on April 2nd), it relies mainly on instrumental sections combined, as usual, with the excellent lyrics (written by keyboardist Tony Pagliuca).
Apart from the band having, at that time, been influenced by Emerson, Lake & Palmer (while, at the same time, having drawn inspiration from the Italian song-making tradition), “Uomo di pezza” is an album I keep on listening to with great pleasure. Its title provides a clue to interpreting the songs: in fact, you may notice (if you can read or understand Italian) that the underlying theme is represented - as the cover picture clearly shows - by the men’s “amorous dependance” upon women. Despite there is no thread running through the songs, “Uomo di pezza” can be considered as a concept album.
All the songs are nice listens indeed, my favourite ones being “La porta chiusa”, “Figure di cartone” and “Aspettando l’alba”.
My personal mark (very poor / poor / pass / good / fairly good / very good / excellent): Very good.
