THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK (10 CC) - 1975 (RE-POST)

Nella storia del rock esistono, come in tutte le altre sfere dell'esperienza umana, enormi misteri. I Ten CC (o 10 CC) sono uno dei maggiori misteri, a mio parere. Infatti, una band del genere avrebbe meritato un successo ben maggiore di quello che ha avuto. Non in termini commerciali, bensì in termini di critica. Forse è/era un peccato incidere dischi "perfetti"? Perfetti in ogni senso (musica, testi, arrangiamenti, produzione) come "The original soundtrack"? Con la sua raffinatezza esclusiva, le atmosfere magiche, gli intrecci vocali tali da reggere il confronto con un album come "A night at the opera" dei Queen? (per puro caso, i due album furono pubblicati lo stesso anno, il 1975).
Ho citato i Queen proprio perché le somiglianze sono parecchie. Non ha senso dire chi si è ispirato a chi. Resta il fatto the "The original soundtrack" è un album splendido, un disco che ogni amante del buon rock non deve assolutamente perdersi.
Voto personale: Eccellente.

The history of rock is full of mysteries - like any other field of human achievements. To this regard, the Ten CC (or 10CC) are one of the greatest mysteries, in my opinion. In fact, such a rock band would have deserved much more reputation than they did. Not so much in sales figure terms, yet in terms of the critics' opinions. Maybe is/was it a shame to make "perfect" records? Perfect in any sense (music, lyrics, arrangements, production) just like "The original soundtrack"? The unique refinement, magic sound, and vocal harmonies of this album make it bear comparison with such a masterpiece as "A night at the opera" by the Queen (by the way, both records were released in the same year, i.e. 1975).
I mentioned the Queen since the similarities between the two bands are many and various. It's no use trying to guess who drew inspiration from whom. One thing is sure: "The original soundtrack" is an excellent album, which anyone fond of high-quality rock music shouldn't miss.
My personal mark: Excellent.
