Harold Budd è uno dei migliori compositori di musica d’avanguardia e d’ambiente – due generi musicali che ultimamente ascolto (soprattutto il secondo) con una ritualità impressionante pressoché quotidiana.
L’unica ‘comparsa’ di Budd (peraltro marginale) in questo blog data 3 gennaio 2012: l’album in questione è “The plateaux of mirror”, di Brian Eno, realizzato per l’appunto con Harold Budd.
La produzione di Budd è davvero vasta, così come le sue esperienze musicali. Per questo motivo, ho deciso oggi di postare quella che viene considerata la ‘summa’ dei suoi lavori: “Avalon Sutra” (2004), opera con la quale Budd si è congedato definitivamente (stando alle sue stesse parole) dalla scena musicale, all’età di quasi settant’anni (l’artista è nato, infatti, nel 1936).

Harold Budd is one of the best composers of avant-garde and ambient music – two genres I have lately been listening to (especially the latter) as if I were going through an obsessive everyday ritual.
The only one time H. Budd appeared (though briefly) in this blog dates back to January 3rd 2012, the day when I posted “The plateaux of mirror” by Brian Eno, an album composed in collaboration with Harold Budd himself.
Considering Budd’s extensive experience and vast production spanning over more than forty years, I have decided today to post an album which is considered to be the ‘summa’ of his works: “Avalon Sutra” (2004), the album by which Budd definitely said goodbye (according to his own words) to the musical scene, when about to be 70 years old (he was born in 1936).
