I NOSTRI 'VECCHIETTI' EROI DEL ROCK PROGRESSIVO (OUR 'ELDERLY' PROG ROCK HEROES)

They have grown older too - time goes by too fast, alas!
Here are three pictures (dating to some years ago - I can't tell how long ago) of three prog rock icons:

GENESIS

YES (please note, in addition to the blonde cutie - I don't know how she is - tall, long fair-haired Oliver Wakeman, Rick's son, standing on the right next to Chris Squire).

(KING CRIMSON's ROBERT FRIPP, one of the most innovative, craftiest rock guitarists of all times (he looks like a non-descript retired civil servants - an 'ordinary' man who made me have strong feelings thanks to his music)

ANTONELLA RUGGIERO E FIORELLA MANNOIA

Come potrete notare, l'immagine risale a fine anni Ottanta.

I've always been fond of collecting clippings from music magazines and newspapers since I was a teenager. I casually found the beautiful picture below a few days ago, when I was browsing through my bookcase drawers. Antonella Ruggiero (on the right - former vocalist of Italian pop group Matia Bazar) and Fiorella Mannoia (on the left) are the two Italian female singers I like best, even though they are not classified as prog rock artists. As you can see, the picture dates back to the late 1980s.

SPETTACOLO N° 800 (GIG #800)

Tomorrow I'm playing together with my vocalist at a private party. A very special day for me, as I'll be celebrating my 800th live performance.
In fact, I started playing live when I was 17 (I celebrated my 30th anniversary as a live player on December 1st 2007) and I've been playing since with various groups: folk music orchestras, rock and jazz bands, dancing hall orchestras and, in the past few years, duos performing at piano bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
Playing live eight hundred times over 30 years is no record indeed, even because there were long periods during which I didn't play at all; yet, I'm proud to be achieving this goal. It's a pity I keep very few photographs of my live gigs - maybe due to the fact that I hate being photographed.
The photos above show me and the bands I played with: starting from December 1st 1977 (i.e. the photo at the bottom - I'm the one with my arm on the keyboard) until April 2006 (the photo at the top, together with my vocalist).

I PADRI DEL ROCK ("FATHERS" OF ROCK)

Who do you think the “fathers or rock music” are? Yesterday I was talking about this subject with my son - no doubt he’s too young to really appreciate and be aware of the “masters of rock”. And I made a list of those who I consider to be these masters.
The photos above show the rock legends who set the essential grounds for today’s rock-pop music. Do you agree with me?

CIAO 2001 - ALTRE COPERTINE (CIAO 2001 - SOME MORE COVERS)

On September 13th I posted a few cover pictures of “Ciao 2001”, an important 1970s Italian weekly magazine dedicated to “art music”, meant as referring mainly to the Italian and foreign progressive rock.
Above are four more covers of this magazine - a real “cult” weekly issue for 1970s Italian rock fans.

CIAO 2001

Together with radio broadcasts such as “Per voi giovani” (anchored by Renzo Arbore), “Ciao 2001” was one of the main channels through which progressive rock and arty pop music spread in Italy.

TALE PADRE, TALE FIGLIO ... (LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON ...)

I really hope my kid will follow in his dad's footsteps (and will also be a prog rock fan ...).

Alcune immagini anni Settanta dei Genesis, mio gruppo progressive preferito (insieme a Pink Floyd, Yes, E. L. & P. e King Crimson).
