VOYAGE OF THE ACOLYTE (STEVE HACKETT) - 1975

“Voyage of the acolyte” segna il debutto solista di Steve Hackett, chitarrista dei Genesis. Pubblicato nel 1975, l’album risente enormemente delle atmosfere di Peter Gabriel e compagni nel loro periodo migliore; proprio per questo motivo, è un disco imperdibile, vero capolavoro del rock progressivo romantico in auge all’epoca.

Non saprei dire quali sono i brani migliori: ancora una volta, mi baso sul parametro di giudizio che uso per dare le mie valutazioni, vale a dire, il “piacere” e l’interesse con i quali riascolto determinati brani a distanza di 20-30 anni (e, in alcuni casi, anche oltre). Per cui, considero i migliori “Ace of wands”, “Star of Sirius” e “The lovers”.

Voto personale (scarso / insufficiente / sufficiente / buono / distinto / ottimo / eccellente): Ottimo.

“Voyage of the acolyte” was the debut solo album from then Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. It was released in 1975 and greatly influenced by the sound and atmospheres of the band’s best period. In other words, “Voyage of the acolyte” is a real must for all romantic progressive rock lovers.

The best tracks? Very difficult to say. Once more, the listening pleasure I derive from – and the interest I still take in - listening to such “old” songs (released 20-30 years ago, and even earlier) will be my yardstick on their value. Having said so, I think “Ace of wands”, “Star of Sirius” and “The lovers” are the best tracks.

My personal mark (very poor / poor / pass / good / fairly good / very good / excellent): Very good.
