La Premiata Forneria Marconi (P.F.M.) è una delle band storiche del progressive italiano anni Settanta. Nonostante le evidenti influenze di mostri sacri quali Genesis e King Crimson, i primi lavori del gruppo erano davvero di ottima fattura. Tuttavia, dopo il disco dal vivo "Live in U.S.A.", la P.F.M. non è più stata in grado di ripetere i successi, in termini di qualità, dei primi album.
Il 4 maggio 2007 avevo postato un loro disco, "Passpartù", appartenente al "secondo periodo" del gruppo. L'album che propongo oggi, pubblicato nel 1972, è il secondo della loro carriera ed è in puro stile progressive, del tutto diverso da "Passpartù". A mio parere, rappresenta un "seguito" ideale al capolavoro d'esordio "Storia di un minuto", grosso modo come fecero i King Crimson pubblicando "In the wake of Poseidon", copia quasi speculare - seppur meno azzeccata - del maestoso album d'esordio "In the court of the Crimson King" (da me postato il 14 marzo 2007).

Voto personale (insufficiente / sufficiente / buono / distinto / ottimo / eccellente): Ottimo.

RE-UPLOAD OF AN ALBUM POSTED ON MAY 28th 2007, THE LINK OF WHICH PROVED TO BE A BAD ONE: "PER UN AMICO" (PREMIATA FORNERIA MARCONI, or P.F.M.).

Premiata Forneria Marconi (a.k.a. P.F.M.) was one of the leading Italian progressive rock bands in the 1970s. Despite having been heavily influenced by such mythical progressive bands as Genesis and King Crimson, the early P.F.M.'s albums were very good. However, after releasing their "Live in U.S.A." (a.k.a. "P.F.M. cook") live record, the band was no longer able to produce such remarkable works (in terms of quality) as their early records.
On May 4th 2007 I posted "Passpartù", an album which belongs to P.F.M.'s "second period". The album I'm posting today is the band's second release (1972), pure progressive style - completely different from "Passpartù". It sounds like an ideal "follow-up" to the band's excellent debut record "Storia di un minuto", just like King Crimson released "In the wake of Poseidon" after - and yet not so good as - their debut masterpiece "In the court of the Crimson King" (which, among other things, I posted on March 14th 2007).
My personal mark (poor / pass / good / fairly good / very good / excellent): Very good.
