1971-72 L'INIZIO - TOUR ITALIANO (PREMIATA FORNERIA MARCONI) - 1971-72

Ve la immaginate la Premiata Forneria Marconi suonare delle cover, ad esempio dei King Crimson o Jethro Tull?
Ed è proprio quello che facevano a inizio carriera, come testimonia questo album “rarità” contenente parte di un loro concerto risalente grosso modo al 1971-72.
A quanto pare, la formazione doveva essere ancora quella originaria del fortunato album d’esordio “Storia di un minuto” (vedere post del 26 febbraio 2008). Purtroppo la qualità sonora lascia a desiderare. Ciò non toglie che questo “1971-72 L’inizio - Tour italiano” sia un album da ascoltare con attenzione e curiosità, non solo per le cover che contiene ma anche per l’ampio spazio riservato alle parti improvvisate.

Voto personale (insufficiente / sufficiente / buono / distinto / ottimo / eccellente): Ottimo.

Would you fancy Italian prog rock band Premiata Forneria Marconi (a.k.a. P.F.M.) playing cover songs, e.g. songs originally released by King Crimson or Jethro Tull?
Well, this is what P.F.M. used to play when they started their career, as witnessed by this “rarity” album containing a part of one live performance of theirs dating back to approximately 1971-72.
Apparently, the line-up was the same as the one who recorded the excellent debut album “Storia di un minuto” (see my post dated February 26th, 2008). Unfortunately, the sound quality is somewhat poor. In spite of this, “1971-72 L’inizio - Tour italiano” is an album worth listening to carefully and with a “curious” spirit, due both to the aforesaid cover songs and the great deal of improvised sections.

My personal mark (poor / pass / good / fairly good / very good / excellent): Very good.
