THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION (EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER) - 2004

Di Emerson, Lake & Palmer ho postato finora un solo album (l’omonimo capolavoro d’esordio – ved. post 14 maggio). Molto strano, devo ammetterlo a me stesso, trattandosi di uno dei gruppi di punta del progressive mondiale, nonché uno dei miei preferiti da adolescente.

Eccomi oggi a rimediare parzialmente a tale mancanza, postando una loro raccolta uscita nel 2004. Quanto alla scelta dei brani presenti nella compilation, avrei personalmente concentrato l’attenzione sui primi album (quelli migliori), tralasciando quelli – decisamente discutibili – che risalgono all’ultima fase della loro carriera.

In ogni caso, ascoltare E. L. & P. fa sempre bene all’udito e alla mente.

Voto personale (scarso / insufficiente / sufficiente / buono / distinto / ottimo / eccellente): Distinto.

So far, I have posted only one album by Emerson, Lake & Palmer (i.e. their debut masterpiece record - see my post on May 14th). Very strange, I have to admit it myself, as E. L. & P. are among the top progressive bands in the world, as well as one of my favourite ones when I was a teenager.

Today I’m partly remedying this lack of mine, by posting “The ultimate collection”, an E. L. & P.’s compilation released in 2004. As regards the selection of the tracks, I myself would have focussed on the band’s earlier albums (the best ones), instead of the records they made later, which did turned somewhat “commercial” and lacked the originality and power of their first releases.

In any case, listening to E. L. & P. is always good for your ears (and your brain).

My personal mark (very poor / poor / pass / good / fairly good / very good / excellent): Fairly good.
