SERA - CANZONE D'AMORE - MARINAI - DIMMI CHE COS'È: SUCCESSI A 45 GIRI DE LE ORME (LE ORME SINGLE HITS)

Non riesco proprio a nasconderlo: Le Orme sono il mio gruppo progressive rock italiano preferito. Ne rimasi letteralmente innamorato la prima volta che li ascoltai: l'album in questione era "Felona e Sorona" (da me postato il 15 marzo), che considero il loro capolavoro (al pari di "Collage").

Le Orme hanno pubblicato anche splendidi 45 giri di successo. Oggi voglio proporvene quattro: "Sera" (1975), "Canzone d'Amore" (1976), "Marinai" (1982) e "Dimmi che cos'è" (1987).

"Sera" non è mai apparso su nessun album ufficiale. Partecipa al Festivalbar 1975 (anno di pubblicazione del 45 giri). Il lato B è "India" (dall'album "Contrappunti").

"Canzone d'amore" è, a mio parere, il loro singolo più bello. Formazione a quattro, con Germano Serafin alla chitarra, in aggiunta al trio originale Tagliapietra-Pagliuca-De Rossi. Esce nel 1976 (lato B: "È finita una stagione").

"Marinai" è del 1982. Per la prima volta, Le Orme partecipano con questo brano a Sanremo. Lato B: "La notte".

"Dimmi che cos'è" (1987) vede la seconda partecipazione delle Orme a Sanremo. Fra l'altro, il brano non fece certo un'ottima figura. Curiosamente, una giuria straniera (belga o tedesca, non ricordo bene) lo elesse a miglior brano della rassegna (concordo perfettamente!). Il lato B presenta la versione strumentale dello stesso brano.

Voto personale della compilation (scarso / insufficiente / sufficiente / buono / distinto / ottimo / eccellente): Ottimo.

I can't really help admitting it: Le Orme are my favourite Italian progressive rock band. I was deeply amazed by them the very first time I listened to a record of theirs: that was "Felona e Sorona" (posted on March 15th), which I consider to be their masterpiece (together with "Collage").

Yet Le Orme also made excellent single hits, four of which I am posting today: "Sera" (1975), "Canzone d'amore" (1976), "Marinai" (1982) and "Dimmi che cos'è" (1987).

"Sera" has never been released on any of the band's official albums. Le Orme participated in the Festivalbar (the Italian summer travelling music tour) in 1975, the same year when the single was released. The side B song is "India" (from "Contrappunti", Le Orme's 1974 album).

"Canzone d'amore" (1976) is, in my opinion, the best single recorded by the band. Germano Serafin features on guitar in this song, adding to the original three-piece Le Orme. The side B song is "È finita una stagione".

"Marinai" was released in 1982. With this song, Le Orme participated in the "Festival di Sanremo" for the first time. The side B song is "La notte".

"Dimmi che cos'è" dates back to 1987, the year when the band participated in the "Festival di Sanremo" for the second time. This song ranked nearly at the bottom of the list; yet, a jury of music experts from a foreign country (Belgium or Germany, I can't remember it now) voted "Dimmi che cos'è" the best song of the Festival (I do agree on that!). The side B song is an instrumental versions of the same song.

My personal mark for the compilation (very poor / poor / pass / good / fairly good / very good / excellent): Very good.
