PARIS - Live (SUPERTRAMP) - 1980

Un album che si ascolta sempre con piacere, questo "Paris" dei Supertramp, registrato dal vivo dal gruppo britannico nella capitale francese nel novembre 1979. Non è certo pop svenevole, ma nemmeno rock progressivo, anche se alcuni dei brani più lunghi (ad esempio, la splendida "A soapbox opera" e "Fool's overture") possono senz'altro essere definiti appartenenti al progressive.

L'album contiene quasi tutti i brani del long-playing "Crime of the century", oltre agli immancabili successi di "Breakfast in America".

Voto personale: Ottimo.

"Paris", the album released by Supertramp in 1980, recorded live in the French capital city in November 1979, is still a pleasant album to listen, more than 30 years after it was released. This album is no common-place pop and, at the same time, cannot be termed as a prog rock work, despite some of the most elaborate songs (e.g. the excellent "A soapbox opera" and "Fool's overture") feature characteristics peculiar to the progressive genre.

The album contains almost all of the "Crime of the century" tracks, including the famous hits taken from "Breakfast in America".

My personal mark: Very good.

TRAM DI TORINO (TROLLEY CARS IN TURIN)

Sono sempre stato affezionato ai tram della mia città. Oltretutto, sono mezzi di trasporto ecologici, che non scaricano merda nell'atmosfera.

Ecco quindi una rassegna dei tram che da più di un secolo trasportano quotidianamente i passeggeri torinesi: dall'alto verso il basso, dai modelli più antichi alle vettura del modernissimo metro.

I have always been fond of trolley cars running in my city. Above all, they are environment-friendly means of transport, which do not release harmful substances into the air.

The pictures above show some models of the trolley cars that have, for more than one century, been carrying Turinese passengers (top to bottom: from the oldest, vintage cars, to the present-day, state-of-the-art metro vehicle).

Nuovo allarme bomba per Equitalia. Una busta sospetta, che in un primo momento si pensava potesse contenere un dispositivo esplosivo, è stata intercettata ieri negli uffici della sede romana del Lungotevere Flaminio e consegnata agli artificieri della questura della capitale. Gli accertamenti della Digos hanno tuttavia escluso che si trattasse di un pacco esplosivo. “Non era un ordigno”, spiega un investigatore. “La busta ritrovata ieri non c'entra nulla con il pacco bomba del 9 dicembre che ha ferito il direttore generale di Equitalia. L'involucro conteneva solo pochi grammi di polvere nera e una miccia che al massimo avrebbe potuto provocare una fiammata ed una breve ustione”.

RIPRENDENDO UN MIO POST DI QUALCHE GIORNO FA, ECCO LA ‘SECONDA RATA’ IN ARRIVO AD EQUITALIA. TERRORISTI, DELINQUENTI CERTAMENTE. MA COME DEFINIRE EQUITALIA? LEGGETEVI QUANTO APPARE SU UN ARTICOLO ODIERNO DE “L’UNIONE SARDA”:

Alla Sos Service di viale Monastir, Cagliari, ha bussato Equitalia: cartella di 62 euro, per un debito di 5 centesimi del 2009. Ben 1.240 volte superiore alla cifra iniziale.

Quando ha visto il contenuto della busta che le ha consegnato il messo, stentava a credere ai suoi occhi. Non sapeva se ridere o piangere Maria Lidia Picchiri, titolare della Sos Service di viale Monastir, un'azienda consorziata con l'Aci per il soccorso stradale 24 ore su 24: Equitalia per un "debito" di 5 centesimi del 2009 le chiedeva 62,03 euro, ben 1.240 volte in più rispetto alla cifra originaria. Oltre il danno, in questi casi bisogna aspettarsi la beffa. Che arriva, spietata e inevitabile. “Quei cinque centesimi in meno sono sicuramente il frutto di un errore materiale dell'impiegato che ha trascritto male la cifra”, spiega l'imprenditrice. “Ma Equitalia non sente ragioni: devo saldare il conto”. Interessi inclusi. E salatissimi …

FRIED (Julian Cope) - 1984

Alla fine degli anni Ottanta avevo avuto l'occasione di ascoltare un'audiocassetta di questo album, rimanendo particolarmente colpito dalla sua musica. Molti, molti anni dopo, mi è capitato di riascoltarla su CD e l'effetto è stato sempre lo stesso. Fra l'altro, avevo già postato questo album all'inizio della mia 'attività' di blogger, solo che il link è andato a farsi benedire ...

Julian Cope, già leader e cantante dei Teardrop Explodes, ha avuto successivamente una carriera solista tutt'altro che brillante. Ma questo suo album è proprio da ascoltare! Fra l'altro, Cope menzionava fra i musicisti rock dai quali ha tratto ispirazione un certo Syd Barrett ... con il quale sembra aver condiviso la passione per l'acido.

Ad ogni modo, "Fried" è davvero un bell'album, con perle intimiste quali "Laughing boy", "Me singing" e "Search party". Per non parlare della grintosa "Sunspots", il brano di maggior effetto dell'album.

Voto: Ottimo.

In the late 1980s I casually listened to this album (I got a tape cassette of it) and I was positively impressed by its music. After many years, I had the chance of listening to the CD release and I had the same good feelings. Among other things, I already posted "Fried" when I first started posting on this blog of mine. Pity the link to the album got lost ...

A former leader and singer of Teardrop Explodes, Julian Cope started a solo career with little or no result. Yet, this album is really worth being listened to. Among other things, Julian Cope mentioned Syd Barrett as one of the musicians who mostly inspired him - and it appears Cope was an acid head too, just like the Pink Floyd's late founding member.

You will certainly like such relaxing songs of this album as "Laughing boy", "Me singing" and "Search party". And, above all, the 'heavy' "Sunspots", no doubt the best track of the album.

My personal mark: Very good.
